Several major metro rail expansion projects in California are currently under construction. These include the D Line Subway Extension Project in Los Angeles, the Foothill Extension in the San Gabriel Valley, and the California High-Speed Rail project, which will connect San Francisco and Los Angeles, with potential extensions to Sacramento and San Diego.
This project, part of LA Metro's plan, is being built in three sections. Section 1 (Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, Wilshire/La Cienega stations) is slated to open in fall 2025, Section 2 (Beverly Dr, Century City stations) in 2026, and Section 3 (Westwood/UCLA, Westwood/VA Hospital stations) in 2027.
This project, also managed by LA Metro, extends the Metro Rail from Glendora to Pomona, with completion expected in 2025. The extension to Montclair is planned for completion in 2030.
This project, part of the California High-Speed Rail network, will extend the Caltrain system into downtown San Francisco, connecting to the High-Speed Rail's northern terminus and 11 other transit systems in the Bay Area.
